《太空堡壘卡拉狄加》（Battlestar Galactica）于2003年12月8日在美國科幻頻道上開播迷你劇 ，之后在2004年10月18日于英國Sky One電視頻道上首播第1季。該劇目前已獲得包括2006年3項土星獎在內的7項各類大獎，包括5項艾美獎提名在內的11項各類提名，在收視率方面也成為美國科幻頻道有史以來最受歡迎的原創劇集。該劇主要敘述的是人類和塞昂人之間的戰爭，及幸存的五萬人類尋找新的家園地球的故事。
　　在宇宙中未知的地方有一個由12個人類殖民地組成的星際國家，人類為了方便制造了一種擁有獨立思想及感覺的機器人-Cylons為人類服務，但人們怎樣也想不到這些本應是幫助人類的機器人竟會調轉頭對抗自已，Cylons起來反抗人類，人類與自已制造的Cylons之戰爭便開始...
　　在經過數十年漫長、死傷無數的血戰之后雙方停火，Cylons離開了殖民地去建立自己的家園。40年的和平讓人類放松了警惕，Cylons制造了一些與人類一模一樣的機器人作間碟滲入人類世界并癱瘓了人類的防御系統，摧毀了Battlestar艦隊，用核武器將殖民地的城市化為灰燼。Battlestar Galactica是唯一一艘幸存的航母，它在艦長Adama的指揮下帶領幾十艘各式各樣的民船和近5萬名人類僅剩的幸存者逃離了殖民地的星系，開始了尋找人類的第13個殖民地－地球－的旅程。　　
場面宏大，科幻元素突出，個性鮮明的角色，峰回路轉的驚險劇情，張弛有度的節奏，再加上逼真的視覺效果以及完整的歷史背景，是近來少見的大制作的科幻劇。
