蘇格蘭皇家龍衛(wèi)隊風(fēng)笛鼓樂隊最早源于一支小小的風(fēng)笛樂隊, 1946年由蘇格蘭陸軍某裝甲部隊復(fù)員軍人組成并來到蘇格蘭灰騎兵部隊。 樂手們是灰騎兵部隊第一批正規(guī)的風(fēng)笛手，在此之前，灰騎兵部隊只有一些小規(guī)模非官方的樂隊，那還是19世紀(jì)20年代，曾有一支駐扎在印度能騎馬演奏的樂隊。
國王喬治六世對這支風(fēng)笛鼓樂隊的到來非常感興趣， 給予他們身著皇家斯圖亞特格子呢的特權(quán), 并親自設(shè)計樂隊的制服，就是您現(xiàn)在看到的這張大鼓鼓手身著醒目的插著紅羽毛的白色熊皮的照片。
關(guān)于白熊皮，則是源于1894年，俄國沙皇尼古拉二世被授為蘇格蘭皇家灰騎兵名譽(yù)團(tuán)長，為此他向灰騎兵部隊贈送了白熊皮。
現(xiàn)在，蘇格蘭皇家龍衛(wèi)隊風(fēng)笛鼓樂隊的風(fēng)笛手和鼓手身兼坦克兵和音樂家二職，為國效力。
