根據(jù)Jeff Lindsay的小說(shuō)'Darkly Dreaming Dexter'改編，講述了一名奇男子Dexter Morgan的故事。他從小飽受虐待和折磨，一位邁阿密警察收養(yǎng)了他。如今他也成為了邁阿密警局一名成功的法醫(yī)。但由于自小的經(jīng)歷改變了他的內(nèi)在，使他的殺人欲望越來(lái)越強(qiáng)并一發(fā)不可收拾。他無(wú)法抑制這種欲望，但卻可以改變發(fā)泄的方法。所以他白天是個(gè)成功的警局法醫(yī)，到了晚上就成了追捕逃脫法律正義罪犯的嗜血判官……

《Dexter》第四季原聲配樂(lè)部分由Daniel Licht作曲。《Dexter》第四季故事將會(huì)發(fā)生在第3季結(jié)束的6個(gè)月后，Dexter和Rita新婚之后，并生下來(lái)了一個(gè)男寶寶。“在這一季中，我們將面對(duì)的是：一個(gè)連環(huán)殺手如何平衡個(gè)人生活、工作以及他的黑暗生活。”該劇的制作人Sara Colleton如此說(shuō)：“換句話說(shuō)，Dexter是否能夠擁有一切？其實(shí)就是困擾著我們每一天生活的這些問(wèn)題，非常貼近每個(gè)人，我們會(huì)看到Dexter如何來(lái)應(yīng)對(duì)這一切。”
