來自英國的與MDB、PL同名的三大DEATH DOOM樂隊之一。
Anathema是最杰出的厄運/歌特樂隊之一，是給英國金屬界帶來了巨大風暴的一種真實的音樂現象，并且創立了其他樂隊追隨和模仿的唯一音樂形式。來自利物浦的Anathema由Vinnie和Cavanagh, Danny，Jimmie（他們三個是親兄弟）創立。
1990年，他們發行了他們第一張DEMO“An Iliad of Woes”，雖然當時錄音設備很差，但還是展現出他們優秀的才華。
1991 年，樂隊發行了他們的第二張DEMO“All Faith is Lost”和第一張正式專集“They Die”.這兩張唱片吸引了以擁有大量創新獨特樂隊聞名的Peaceville的目光。1992年，Anathema發行了經典E.P“The Crestfallen”。不容質疑的，他們一年之后發行的首張專集“Serenades”取得了很大的成功。
